Summer Hymn

(Sterling Duns, Verse One)
The way that times moving we swooning over memories
Plenty of things to keep us distracted all from our inner beings
my higher calling takes a back seat to the immediate
immediately regret steps I took to keep deepness in
I check the celle
missed calls, I miss, already
the peace of mind, so refreshing
But who am I just a fragment
a piece of a painting painted over, amidst reframing
you discover the angle in which I’m matted, needs to be straightened needs replacing
confusions looming
mind and body needs fusion
keeping up with the cool kids
that the reason I do this
The lone mind wonders
so I ponder, out of the somber
precious time, it cant be squandered
it must be cherished and honored
And I’m so grateful for all lf this of all the that i know
You can sometimes hold on to things
you need to let goto grow
pray i forget the ways, i never wanna slip away
never feeling alone, especially with the break of day
(Samara Bradley, Chorus One)
Its beauty is quiet, seen all around
Do flowers that bloom make a sound?
Busy like bees, in the forest for the trees
Wearing their voices like crowns
(Qil Rogers, Verse Two)
I’m always opened up, a nyctonastic flower
Empowered by a tower of mutual adoration showers,
I ain’t a coward, got powers that been unscoured
By Brillo pillows unsoured in quiet spaces I cower,
I hardly ever write lonely time on my to-do
My magic is being active, you’re passive, to me that’s voodoo
I would offer but my coffers are costin’ me like a daughter
My two cents is twopence, that’s nonsense, that’s garbage
I’m saturated, my brightness has maturated
It’s ripened and now its likeness is closer to agitated...
To you unsightly, but all that I see is beauty
I strap it across my back and I carry like das my Tumi
I know you lookin’, don’t know if you can see through me
Unto me is no facade, I’m unshaken, my vibe is Bumi
No brooding, that’s time consuming, my spirit’s hungry for booming
So let me live, let me give, all that this blossom’s rooting
(Samara Bradley, Chorus Two)
Busy like bees, in the forest for the trees
Wearing their voices like crowns
Their beauty is quiet, seen all around
Do flowers that bloom make a sound?
(Sterling Duns and Qil Rogers, Outro)
(S) If find footing and solace in what I’m doing
(Q) Teaching me how to feel, learning how to be real
(S) And forget the tropes anecdotes given to me that I'm pulling
(Q) Growin' up got me solo heightening is how I heal
(S) Towards a higher being, being patient with my self
(Q) Huddled up in my mental, nuzzled against my ego
(S) Knowing that in the end, I don’t answer to no one else
(Q) Protecting all that is sacred, my spirit be my own hero
(S) choices to make wats at stake-in telling narratives
(Q) My spirit never be zero, my spirit be my own cradle
(S) And its imperative that we rise together and carry this
(Q) Youngin' with introspection but oldie without label
(S) Urban decay, urban decadence is my vendetta
(Q) Finding out who I am and how I can be most able
(S) Write on napkins forever like i hope that times get better
(Q) Peeking for lion’s pride and dip it out with a ladle

(Qil Rogers, Verse 1)
I’m dream schemin’ / beamin' like the moonlight is soluble,
Look at me, look at me, shiny valuable
I got glo, got edge like follicles
Check my chest though, is it really volatile?
That’s a yes, no, watch me on some Hublot
All a clock know is I be at it two-four,
Seven, two-fold like eleven, ya put me in the mix and match my moves like we steppin'
The way we beckon, I reckon, is just another progression
Along a record we wreckin’ and spinning into expression
Check it if you ain’t checkin, flex it if you ain’t flexin'
Tomorrow be the reverend you never knew was a second
Better believe we livin', find the relief in tryin’,
Hope that we never weepin' and if we do then we cryin’
In the name of love and towards another horizon
Feelin' way up, yeah that’s the way that we vibin’
So, give, thanks, give, thanks,
We all know the words wise folk ain’t, so
Give, thanks, give, thanks
Now bring it back yaw, don’t tell me you can’t
(Steling Duns, Interrupt)
Tell me you cant,
tell me you bout ready for change, haters cant taint, my joy,
oh boy, I'm in my lane
(Qil Rogers, Interrupt)
We get it live like a drummer No simmer we overcomers
We in it, we over under
We everywhere for the come up
(Sterling Duns, Verse Two)
Loving it, loving life to the core
And all that I adore, from the sky to shore
I have no idea whats coming
the good times are running
and I just think its funny
that the futures up to something
no idea of what it is
or what it entails
without fail, I embrace it all
smile and say well
My arms open, mind’s calm feet steady
my dreams are never heavy
theres a fire in my belly, and I’m ready
with a song in my heart
what can tear us apart
loving hands from the start
music, thats my art
of choice
gives me voice,
gives my levity
lighter than a feather be
the joys feel heavenly, so heavenly Hardwork is my mission and my motivation more love means one thing less hating
so no debating, rise up
get the waking wise up
anticpating the good vibes won’t be fading
Qilo, whats the dealio been a minute
lets give em somethin', make sure people really fill it,
lets give em something that keep all the people in the building
Putting people first, from the first and last word grab the words let em be heard
(Noelle Mercer, Chorus)
I’m ready
Arms open, minds calm, feet steady,
Singing my sound, I wear my voice like a crown
Knowing that my future relies
On something, that’s got me in its grasp
Turned to see those loving hands that came as no surprise
I see proud faces in my mind
Your smiles begin to climb and you’ll feel Lighter than a feather

A Lot To Remember

5. |

(Sterling Duns, Verse One)
The air is different somethings shifted
Something has lifted
Im finding it hard to stay grounded
In all of these feeling
The faces in familiar places have gracefully gave their graces I try to be grateful I'm
Finding this painful sifting
Thru memories
Hope they remember D
Heard that the heart is home and I'm hoping to get some sleep Hoping to get some peace
need to learn what we teach
Food for the soul, heaven knows I'm tryna eat
(Qil Rogers, Verse Two)
Home do you remember me, I know it's been a minute three
I been on my way hoping to try and bring ya memories
Moments from the centerpiece and omens that disintegrate
Upon every return, like you never went cemetery
A palace in my inner tree, imbalanced by periphery,
look you in the eyes and know that there was something there to see
But now, there's nothing really here for me
And I don't know if you have changed or if I lost my kindling
(Sterling Duns, Verse Three)
I hold steady then colds heavy I'm so ready theres so many roads, choices i know many
Waking up and try to make up for lost time is it worth more than tryna live in the right now
All in the placements
Marathons all about pacing
theres no going back, re-steps or retracing
Look ahead greener pastures in cerebral museums day dreaming about days my team is rested in freedom
(Qil Rogers, Verse Four)
It's probably me,
But possibly,
I'm losing time
And all its ology
That bothers me
No need for coddling I know your soul
It's all that I could be
We growing old
Beyond what we can see
But if we hold, all of these memories Then we’d be free, releasing me Succeeding you is a deeper peace
(Samara Bradley, Bridge)
Homes with hearts that burn like stars Hold us tight like open arms
Counting down these sunny days But there’ll be more so I’m not afraid
One way or another that House will come down but Some way or some other Build it up from the ground This laughter is peculiar But not so not familiar
(Samara Bradley, Noelle Mercer, Rick Banks)
Houses built with love last longer and
The families in them struggle harder then
Love will heal you, build you up again
Hearts grow stronger when
Houses built with love last longer and
The families in them struggle harder then
Love will heal you, build you up again
(Sterling Duns and Qil, Unison Break)
Packing up and shipping out
Living long and laughing loud
Seeing faces in the crowds
See the mirror feeling proud
Wow
I know we gotta do it now and
Search the world and now its found
Cause Its in me
(Samara Bradley, Noelle Mercer, Rick Banks)
Home can heal you, build you up again
Here’s to all the sunny days
(Qil Rogers, Spoken Word Poem)
These steps cascade the way mountains hoist themselves up from earth, dirt and stone gathering on our soles like family going far too long to a point of not knowing but sensing the presence of a loved one. Which of us has not missed that which might have never existed, that which might have breathed life into the other side of a door? The dust on these floors doesn't make the footprints less real, though wood covered in grays forbids the luster that once gave this home a name. What it was once called was a way for me to remember all that gets taken by the hungry hands of time, time, lurching towards us and from us as if all that ever was rests inside our chests.
